Hope on Hopkins Distillery

The first gin distillery in Cape Town, Hope on Hopkins creates spirits using new flavours, an extensive group of botanicals and carefully sourced ingredients.

All products are made in two trusty stills – named Mildred and Maude – that are the first to be licensed by the City of Cape Town. To make their artisanal spirits, the owners use South African barley, allow fermentation for a few days and then use a triple distillation process to come up with their base neutral single malt vodka. From this, a wide range of vodkas and gins are crafted: London Dry Gin, Salt River Gin, Mediterranean Gin, Small Batch Vodka and Lucy’s Last of Summer Vodka. They are all unique in taste and character.

There are tours and tastings available, specifically the private “gin experience” where you can learn about the fine art and process of making the celebrated spirit. These occur on Wednesdays and on Saturdays and can accommodate up to 12 people. Booking is required.
