Tyisa
Nabanye is a non profit organization located (without a lease) on the slopes of
Signal Hill between Tamboerskloof and the Bo Kaap, on an old military base.
Started in August 2013, this collaboration between food security activists,
neighbors and people living on the site aims to create a space in the city
where everyone is welcome to explore the possibilities of growing food in an
urban environment. Various project undertakings include an organic vegetable
garden, an indigenous nursery, workshops and events that encompass our goals of
food security and employment creation as well the weekly Erf 81 Market.
The
AfroFest is a collaborative movement that showcases/promotes African culture
actors across Cape Town. They co-create/support celebrations of African culture
to strengthen local businesses and artists throughout the year that strive to
keep culture & heritage alive in the city, with a special objective of their
annual festival for heritage weekend in September. Catch them at the market
spreading awareness about their initiative as well as offering you exciting
challenges through intriguing games around African culture.
Join
the movement and let's contribute together in upholding African culture.
