Call to book and inquire on our menu.
The name of our restaurant is taken from a Norwegian word meaning the road-like reflection of the moon on the water.

If you follow the moons reflection over False Bay you will come to the Mångata restaurant, situated at 98, St Georges Street in the beautiful seaside village of Simons Town, nestling between the mountain and the waters of False Bay.

The restaurant boasts truly magnificent views, from our first floor balcony, over Simons Town Harbour and yacht basin, onwards over the waters of False Bay to the mountains in the distance. This is a fabulous spot for sundowners as you partake in our chefs tasting plate with a glass of bubbles or craft beer.

On a winters night you can relax in front of a log fire on our leather couch while contemplating our menu, which is a fusion of classic French and contemporary cuisine. Redefining dining in the South Peninsula, the restaurant is decorated in a blend of classical and bistro styles, from original international art works, dating back over a 100 years, hanging on the walls, to Persian rugs and bistro style tables.

The Mångata restaurant is not just a culinary experience, it is a destination in its own right. Well worth the trip to Simons Town, from anywhere in the peninsula and now if you live in the Deep South there is no reason to travel over Ou Kaapse Weg if you want a truly fantastic culinary experience, it is on your door step.

Owner operated by Chef William Sharp, a product of the Swiss Hotel school and with a number of years working under a French executive chef, Pascal Didier in a 5 star hotel in the United Arab Emirates.

The team that William has gathered is highly skilled and has been drawn from some of the finest restaurants across South Africa. Our menu has purposely been kept small but sophisticated with separate menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All menus include children’s options.

Drawing on many years of experience Chef William uses only the finest ingredients that can be found in the Western Cape.

Rachel Davis, our general manager will welcome you into a wonderful environment for, lunch or dinner.
